Executive Coaching & Leadership Development

Targeted coaching to develop the skills and confidence for mid-level or new leaders.

You got here by being good at the work. Leading people is a different skill.

You want to be the leader who’s calm under pressure. Who makes clear decisions and brings people with them. Who’s trusted by their team and respected from above.

You also know that’s not how it feels right now.

Your days disappear into the day-to-day. Handling tasks, putting out fires, managing people. The workday stretches into long hours and weekends, and you still feel like you’re never getting ahead.

Plus, you’re really hard on yourself. You think you should know this by now. You look at other managers who seem to have it figured out and wonder what they know that you don’t.

If this sounds familiar, here’s the good news.

Leading people is a skill like any other. It can be learned, and I can show you how.

To grow into the leader you want to be, you need the right guidance.

How can a leadership coach help you?

The right coach helps you build the capability, confidence, and clarity to lead well at this stage, and step up to the next when you’re ready. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • You rise above the detail. You spend less time firefighting and more time thinking, planning, and leading. Your team performs at their best without relying on you for constant input and oversight.
  • You handle the hard parts with confidence. Difficult conversations, high-stakes decisions, managing people who may have been your peers. You stop second-guessing and start trusting your own judgement.
  • You stop relying on patterns that no longer serve you. You learn how to operate at your best, where your strengths come from, and what trips you up, so you lead deliberately rather than by default.

And it doesn’t take over your life. You protect the time to think. You switch off at the end of the day. You enjoy work instead of just surviving it.

The Emerging Leader Programme: Leadership coaching for new and mid-level managers

Each programme is tailored to you, built on these elements:
Emerging Leader Profile (ELP)
A comprehensive assessment of your leadership capabilities, followed by a 90-minute review to highlight your strengths and the areas where you’ll get the most growth.

We finalise and sign off clear, measurable objectives for the programme, aligned to your role and your organisation’s goals. Where possible, I suggest your line manager be a part of this conversation.
Emerging Leader Coaching

Developing several leaders at once? Discover the Emerging Leader Group Programmes

You can develop your new and mid-level managers through my Emerging Leader Group Programmes: focused, three-hour sessions on the challenges managers face day in, day out, from delegation and difficult conversations to giving feedback, confidence, gravitas, and resilience.

Every session is pragmatic, practical, and interactive. Attendees leave with specific, measurable commitments to act on that week so the learning sticks and the results last..

You can also have several of your managers coached one-to-one by my team, either as standalone coaching packages or alongside group training.

Investing in your development

Investing in your leadership now is some of the best career future-proofing you can do.

The leaders who thrive are those building these skills before the stakes get higher and the patterns get harder to shift. The fact that you are here, looking for this kind of support, already puts you ahead of most.

The programme is taken up by leaders whose organisations fund their coaching and by those who choose to invest in themselves. Both are equally welcome.

If you are self-funding, join the waitlist, and I’ll contact you to arrange a Clarity Call when a space opens up. If you would like your organisation to consider funding the programme, I can provide whatever supporting information your line manager or HR team needs to make that decision.

How to get started

Let’s firstly see if this coaching programme is right for you and if we’re a good fit to work together:
Join the waitlist and answer a few brief questions. When a space opens up, I’ll be in touch to arrange your Clarity Call.

Hi, I’m Sue Belton, award-winning leadership coach and best-selling author

A PCC, professional certified coach credentialed by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I have been coaching ambitious leaders at every stage of their careers since 2008 from new managers stepping into their first leadership position to senior executives at the top of large organisations.

Clients have come from Virgin Wines, Getty Images, Curtis Brown, Costain, Generali, and many other multinationals and expanding SMEs. I was named Coach of the Year and Female Entrepreneur of the Year, and was a finalist in the Business Book Awards for both of my best-selling books Screw Meditation! and Change Your Life in 5.

Before coaching, I spent 15 years as a BBC documentary producer. That work taught me how to hold space for people in their most difficult moments. It’s the foundation of how I coach now.

My approach is direct, practical, and grounded in neuroscience. I’ll tell you the truth about what I see, including the things you might not want to hear. I’ll show you the patterns that are getting in your way and back you while you do the work to change them. And I’ll give you the tools and frameworks to take into the rest of your career.

The Emerging Leader Programme is delivered by me and a bespoke team of hand-selected associate coaches, working under my direction and to the same framework, standards, and quality. Whether you work with me or with one of my associates, the programme is the same.

If you’re ready to grow into the leader you want to be, join the waitlist, and when a spot opens up, I’ll be in touch to arrange an Emerging Leader Clarity Call.

What you’ll walk away with

There are many outcomes from doing this work. Here are the top five.
A clearer leadership vision and the time to act on it. You move from reacting to whatever the day throws at you to strategic management of your team and your priorities. You spend less time firefighting and more time on the work that shapes your team’s direction.
Time management that holds up under pressure. You learn to prioritise effectively, protect the time to think, and reduce the stress that comes from a calendar you can’t keep up with.
A team that performs at their best. You learn how to inspire, motivate, and empower the people you lead, building a culture of trust, accountability and employee engagement that doesn’t depend on you being in every decision.
Stronger relationships across your organisation. You build the stakeholder relationships, peer connections, and internal credibility that position you as a respected and high-performing leader within your organisation.
Confidence to handle whatever leadership throws at you. You stop second-guessing yourself. You handle difficult conversations, hard decisions, and high-stakes moments with the clarity and self-trust of someone who knows they belong in the role.

What you and your organisation will gain

Whether you are self-funding this programme or your organisation is investing in you, the return is significant.

For you, it is a transformation in how you lead, think, and perform.  For the business, the evidence is equally compelling.

30%

Teams led by trained leaders are more than 30% more engaged. (Gallup)

50%

Leadership development can reduce turnover by up to 50%. (SHRM)

20%

Organisations with strong leadership at all levels perform 20% better. (McKinsey)

When you grow as a leader, everyone around you benefits. Your team performs better. Your peers see a different leader showing up. And the business gets what it has always needed from you: someone operating at the level the next phase demands.

For HR and L&D teams, the Emerging Leader Group Programmes offer a focused, practical way to develop several leaders at once.

Introducing the 5 Principles of Effective Leadership

Infographic of the 5 principles of Sue Belton’s leadership coaching program, Strategic Leader. The 5 principles are Insight, Insure, Implement, Influence, and Impact.

Through nearly two decades of coaching leaders at every level, I have identified 5 core principles that separate highly effective leaders from the rest. They underpin everything we do in the Emerging Leader Programme.

Insight
Self-awareness is your greatest asset.

As an Emerging Leader, you learn to identify your strengths and address your blind spots. You get curious about how you operate, take ownership of your actions, and develop the clarity you need to lead with confidence.

InSure
Protecting your mental and physical wellbeing.

Emerging Leaders understand that physical and mental wellbeing are the foundation of sustained performance. You’ll learn to build healthy habits that sustain you, reduce stress, and give you the energy to lead.

INFLUENCE
Communicating with clarity and connection.

Emerging Leaders know that influence is all about communication and connection. You’ll develop the skills to communicate your vision, navigate difficult conversations, build executive presence, and form relationships that motivate and inspire your team to perform at their best.

IMPLEMENT
Self-management by habit.

You step into leadership operating with intention, prioritising what’s most important instead of what feels most urgent. You use tools like the Time Management Matrix to focus on high-impact work, and you plan the week ahead so this way of working becomes a habit. Grounded in neuroscience, you build new ways of managing yourself into how you lead, practising until they hold under pressure. This is where good intentions become reliable action, for yourself and your team.

IMPACT
Leading with purpose

You’ll learn how to drive performance and shape the future of your organisation. You’ll lead with purpose, make informed decisions, and earn the respect of those around you.

I coach new and mid-level managers in person from my Central London coaching rooms, on-site at your organisation, or online throughout the UK and worldwide.
